Kindness and YOU

“Be kind” is probably one of the most popular positive posts on social media in the last few years, but today I invite you to think of it in a different way, not just see it and think “Aw, isn’t that a nice post”  and scroll.  Here’s why, and it’s not just for others’ benefit, it’s for yours too! According to one study, people who are perpetually kind have 23% less cortisol (stress hormone) and age slower than the average population (Integrative Psychological and Behavioral Science, 1998). Mortality is delayed, and feelings of depression are reduced, due to the release of the happy chemical serotonin (Western Reserve University School of Medicine). Other studies showed that kindness is linked to the release of oxytocin (known to protect the heart by lowering blood pressure), activation of the reward centre of the brain, (leading to feelings of motivation), pain decrease, and it has even been shown to increase relationship satisfaction. These are just some of the impacts of being kind, so I think it’s fair to say that, in addition to kindness being a nice act, it is wise to make kindness an intentional choice for your health and wellbeing!

Now, here’s the bit you may not have considered when it comes to kindness, and I really want you to consider it today. How much kindness do you show yourself? For many people, it’s easier to be kind to others than it is to themselves, but it is so important to give yourself kindness too. Instead of beating yourself up, build yourself up. You wouldn’t talk to your neighbour the way you sometimes talk to yourself, isn’t that true?  So, I’d like you to be mindful of showing yourself more kindness, starting today.

You could start by thinking about how you speak to the people you love and care about, and then intentionally direct that message to yourself also. You could practice more self-care and invest in your interests. Have a think about it and consciously implement some steps to make kindness part of your daily routine. The key is to create a mental space that allows for love, clarity, motivation and peace of mind, so you can become the best version of yourself.

I am happy to help and support you in doing this. You can download my ebook for FREE at EBOOK It will help you to be a better version of yourself and everyone benefits from that!
